ANTHONY GIBBS

Born in Birmingham in 1951, he attended Bournville School of Art although Anthony is primarily a self-taught artist. His first one man show was in 1976 with six further one man exhibitions since.

His first Limited Edition print "White Tigers Ever Watchful" was released in 1988, the largest edition of a Limited Edition print by Solomon and Whitehead at the time and was an instant sell-out not only in Britain, but also in the United States. He went to Kenya for the first time in 1989. He is a committed conservationist and is a member of several conservation charities.

Anthony Gibbs is a member of the Society of Animal Artists in New York, winning the society's National Tour, People's Choice Award '92 - '93 and the society's "Award of Excellence" medal in 1997. With the society his work has been exhibited all over America.

Anyone standing in front of one of Anthony’s imposing canvases cannot but be impressed not only by the artist’s meticulous skill in creating such wonderful images that can take up to three months to create but also by the rapport and feeling for his subject that Anthony Gibbs so obviously has.
